Oh Dear John

Of all the things I have found in starting to clear out the house and your stuff, one particular card has made me weep so much.

It was sent from you to me.  It has two teddies on the front cover, and it says, ‘As long as there’s a me, and as long as there’s a you..’  And inside it says, ‘There will always be an us.’

Oh, to see that, where there is no longer a ‘me’, when you no longer exist!

You couldn’t have known when you bought it, many years ago, that one day I’d be crying over it and that it would be so very poignant and sad.
