Camel statue seems familiar – have I been here once before?

Tiny zoo behind the station, hardly time but must explore.

Big koala climbing branches, massive vultures flapping round.

Hippo yawning in the water, yellow monkeys on the ground.

Buffalo outside the cafe, cormorants with flapping wings.

Huge nocturnal house with lots of curious, secret night time things.

Elephants look full of mischief, giraffe are fringed with winter sun.

Lions prowl in huge enclosure, seals swim on their backs for fun.

And throughout are Chinese lanterns, lovely colours, big and bright.

Must be that they’re lit up later, glowing figures in the night.

Glad I found the time to visit, glad I saw the lanterns too.

Highly recommend a wander round this little city zoo.
